Patches
By Regina Garson

Patches on my faded jeans
stitched to cover rips in seams;
holes in knees and holes in hearts
silk threads hold what's ripped apart.

Hide my stains with pretty flowers
sewn in patterns made to ponder
dizzy shapes kaleidoscopic.
Hold the eyes far from my heart...
